Whether you’re just getting started in the kitchen or have been cooking for years, having the right tools can make a big difference. A few reliable items can make cooking easier, faster, and a lot more fun. I wanted to share some of my favorite kitchen tools and appliances in case you’re looking to add a few new things to your own collection.
If you have a favorite that I didn’t include, I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

1. Garlic Press
I am obsessed with garlic, and this tool is always within reach. I prefer using fresh garlic instead of the pre-minced kind because it tastes better and has a stronger flavor. Whether I’m making pasta, dipping sauce, or roasted veggies, the garlic press gets a workout.

2. Lemon/Lime Squeezer
There’s something so refreshing about freshly squeezed citrus. I use this tool all the time. Limes are my go-to for salsa, and I reach for lemons when making lemonade or vinaigrettes. It helps me get every last drop without the mess.

3. Mini Serving Spatula
This little spatula has been surprisingly useful. It’s great for serving brownies and other baked goods, scraping the sides of mixing bowls, or scooping peanut butter from a jar. I use it more than I ever expected.

4. Ninja Blender
This blender is a powerhouse. I use it for everything from smoothies to salsa, and I even made homemade mayo in it. It’s reliable, easy to clean, and perfect for anyone who blends often.

5. Stand Mixer
My stand mixer isn’t a high-end KitchenAid, but it gets the job done. I actually got it for free from a relative, and I’ve used it so many times over the years. It’s especially helpful for baking when you need to slowly add dry ingredients while the wet ingredients are mixing.

6. Food Chopper
This tool saves me so much time. I use it for chopping onions when I don’t want to cry, and it’s my go-to for homemade salsa. My favorite thing to make with it is pesto, especially when I toast the pine nuts first to bring out the flavor.

7. Sharp Knife
Every home cook needs a good, sharp knife. I use mine constantly. It makes prep work so much easier and more precise. Just remember to hand wash it and dry it right away to keep it in top shape.

8. Large Ice Cube Tray
I love big ice cubes. They melt slower in drinks like an old fashioned, and they’re perfect for freezing fruit to toss into sparkling water. I also use this tray to freeze chicken broth so I never have to waste a drop. (You can check out my post on using leftover broth).

9. Meat Chopper
I used to break up ground beef or sausage with a spatula, but this tool is so much better. It’s faster, easier, and helps everything cook more evenly. I reach for it every time I make taco meat or breakfast sausage.

10. Silicone Basting Brush
Since I use olive oil almost daily, this brush has become one of my favorite tools. I use it to brush oil onto bread, vegetables, and meats. It’s easy to clean and works well. I actually ended up buying a second one because I use it so often.
Bonus: Instant Pot
This appliance surprised me. I wasn’t sure I’d love it, but now I use it regularly. It’s great for making soups, mac and cheese, and so many other recipes. The food comes out delicious, and it saves time when I don’t feel like cooking something the long way. Get yours here.
I hope this list gives you a few new ideas to try in your own kitchen. If you have a favorite tool or appliance that I didn’t mention, let me know in the comments. I’m always looking for new kitchen inspiration!
